ELAN Z*Series Gets 3 New Arrivals
ELAN Home Systems announced three new additions to their already successful Z*Series multi-room audio-video line. The new products include the Z*880 (8 x 8 Video Controller), the Z*POWER (Intelligent Power Controller) and the Z*12c (12 channel Power Amplifier). The new offerings bring ELANís Z*Series line to eight distinctive stackable components that allow configurations from the most basic to a sophisticated multi-source, multi-zone home system. Z*880 Video Controller This unit accepts baseband inputs from video sources such as DVD, VCR, Cameras, and Satellite and routes the high-quality signals to any TV in the house. The composite video, along with ELAN audio distribution, provides a superior listening and viewing experience. Up to eight sources can be switched into eight output zones (six zones when used with the Z*630 pre-amp controller). The Z*880 can be controlled by RS485 via the Z*630 Preamp Controller, RS232 or with direct infrared control. The component works seamlessly with ELANís HD Seriesâ for up to 24 zones of video distribution or as a standalone video router. The suggested retail for this unit is $900. Shipping began in August of this year. Z*POWER Controller This unit provides eight AC outlets for intelligent on/off control, AC line conditioning with coaxial and telephone surge protection. Several remote triggers are available including 12v, music sense, and various Smartlincx options. Designed for delayed power-up of audio and video equipment, the Z*POWER Controller simplifies the using A/V equipment for homeowners. The suggested retail for the Z*POWER is $400 and ELAN expects to begin shipping by year end. Z*12c Power Amplifier This unit provides 12 channels of audio at 20WPC (watts per channel) and at 1.75-inch high may be the smallest 12-channel amp available in the market. This slim line amplifier also has unique features like ""channel grouping"" bus mode, stereo and mono mixing within a group and is 4 ohm stable. A real price performer with six pairs of speakers attached, the amp has a suggested retail of $749. The new amplifier is expected to ship Q1, 2000.
