SACD Discs Are A Manufacturable Product

Since the formal finalizing of the SACD specification at REPLItech Vienna this year, SACD discs have stared to see the light of day as a manufacturable product, both in ""DVD""-only versions and as CD-compatible hybrid discs. The major plank on which SACD has been developed is that it can deliver a disc that will play on SACD DVD-type players where the high-definition layer will contain stereo and multichannel audio streams and also on the existing base of 600 million CD players. The technical issues have been largely resolved and the long-haul for Sony/Philips is to sell the concept to the content owners, disc producers, and most importantly ñ the public
