Kenwood Unveils Pair Of Receivers

Kenwood USA Corporation is introducing at the CEDIA Expo, September 24-26, its first audio/video receivers with PowerTouch two-way IR interactive remote controls, the VR-3100 and VR-3090. The new receivers, which feature surround sound decoding for both DTS and Dolby Digital formats, instantly sense which audio format it is receiving and automatically switches its decoding circuits to the appropriate settings. The unitsí S-video capability provides superior video resolution for DVD and S-VHS movies. ""Our top of the line receivers deliver a true home theatre experience with easy access to movie and music enjoyment and high performance,"" says Joe Richter, Kenwood President. ""We are excited to be able to offer touch panel interface remote controls and high performance features at modest price points.""Kenwoodís VR-3100 and VR-3090 both offer consumers the menu-driven PowerTouch two-way IR remote control with 3D graphics. Unconventional in appearance but comfortable to hold and use, the new remote employs icons to quickly guide users in adjusting each component in their home entertainment systems. As adjustments are make by touching onscreen icons, the status of the system is displayed on the remoteís LCD panel, which maintains a two-way infrared communication link with the receiver.When used in conjunction with Kenwoodís new 200-disc CD mega-changers, CD-3280M and CD-3260M, the PowerTouch will store the song titles of each disc. Once stored, favorite discs and songs can be accessed by name and played immediately from the remote. It is not necessary for the user to remember disc location and track numbers.The PowerTouch features learning and preset IR for easy set up and maximum flexibility.
