Runcoís Latest Video Processors Improve Performance, Hold Pricing Two New Models Bow With Enhanced Power, Features, And Flexibility

Projection-television leader, Runco International, introduces two powerful new video processors - the latest in high-tech digital processing. The new VFC-4403 and VFC-4404 MultiFilm Video Format Controllers enable high-resolution big-screen displays to produce state-of-the-art image quality from any conventional television source, accepting all popular signal formats. The two new models, which are identical except for an additional, top-resolution format for the VFC-4404, both incorporate an impressive set of inputs, outputs, and features, including remote-controlled source switching and user-friendly on-screen menus. Both new processors are based upon the latest refinements of Runco's sophisticated ""video Scaling."" a technique that goes beyond conventional line-doubling with powerful digital signal processing (DSP), performed with incredible speed and precision at the individual pixel level. Video scaling analyzes the incoming signal's image content in three ""dimensions""-vertical, horizontal, and time-to produce highly accurate, dramatically enhanced resolution signals. The result is video imaging of unprecedented clarity and detail from conventional video sources, such as DVDs, LaserDiscs, and even satellite and broadcast programming. Runco's VFC-4403 and VFC-44Q4 are engineered for easy system integration and maximum convenience, even in the digital television age. Both models feature seven independent inputs, selectable via that supplied remote controller, that encompass five positions for composite (RCA-jack), two S-Video connections, a three-BNC component video set for DVD or DTV sources, and a RGB ""pass-through"" connection, specifically conceived for connection with DTV receivers or computers. This unique feature permits DTV or computer signals to pass unprocessed to a compatible projector without any intervention (or re-patching) by the user. The VFC-4403 offers three scan-rate modes: 2x (31.5kHz), 2.5x (39kHz), and 3x (48kHz), while the VFC-4404 adds an additional 4x processing mode at 63 kHz. Though these options are analogous to ""line-doubling"" through ""line-quadrupling"" processing, Runco's video-scaling DSP is far more sophisticated and produces visibly superior results. The VFC-4403 and -4404 also feature automatic motion- and film-adaptive processing to ensure smooth, cinematic imaging from the broadest possible range of sources. The new processors even include highly accurate time-base correction for the best possible results from less-stable sources, such as VCRs. Both models feature LCD readouts with simplified front-panel controls. For powerfully flexible integration with home-theater and whole-house systems, the VFC-4403 and VFC-4404 include remote controls that are comprehensive yet clear, in addition to wired-infrared and RS-232/422 control interfaces. Both models are fully compatible with worldwide video broadcast standards, including NTSC, PAL, SECAM, and NTSC-4.43. About Runco International Founded in 1987 and currently headquartered in Hayward, California, Runco International is a market leader in state-of-the-art front- and rear-projection televisions, flat-panel plasma TVs, video processors, and source components for the consumer market. Runco's innovations have won numerous awards and citations from the world press. Runco was the first video company to introduce a multiple-aspect-ratio controller, the ARC-IV, to the home-theater market and also the first to introduce and market a line-doubler with a multi frequency projector in 199O. The VFC-4403 and VFC-4404 are available now at the manufacturerís suggested retail price VFC-4403: $14,995 VFC-4404: $19,995.
