The Fine Arts Theatre in Beverly Hills is proud to announce the 1st Annual Beverly Hills Hi-Def Film Festival. The 10-day event begins on December 22 with a special opening night gala celebration that will include a cocktail party, a Q&A panel discussion on high-definition filmmaking, and the world premiere of Don Henry’s feature horror film DESERT OF BLOOD. The festival culminates on December 31 with a special awards ceremony and a closing night New Years Eve party.
“The Beverly Hills Hi-Def Film Festival is an international competition created with the goal of presenting the best international independent films and documentaries in full HD picture with surround sound,“ said Michael S. Hall, Festival Director, “Using the very best HD technology available, the festival offers filmmakers the opportunity to showcase their work the way it was meant to be seen.”
Attendees to the festival will enjoy an array of 94 feature films, shorts and documentaries (including CUBA: A LIFETIME OF PASSION, and BECOMING FAMILY: A TSUNAMI RELIEF DOCUMENTARY). About DESERT OF BLOOD: Shot on location in rural Tecate, Mexico, DESERT OF BLOOD is a character-driven horror film about a fledgling vampire who escapes from 35 years of captivity beneath the Mexican desert. On his quest for vengeance, he becomes unexpectedly sidetracked when he falls in love with a young woman visiting from the States. But his efforts to deny the monster inside him ultimately prove futile. His growing rage -- and his hunger for human blood -- finally triggers a gruesome terror spree that leads to a climactic showdown in the shadows of an old Spanish churchyard. DESERT OF BLOOD was written and directed by Don Henry (Lifetime’s THE HAUNTING OF LISA) and produced by Drew Brody (award-winning LA theater producer of 7 MET SHORTS and FLUFFY BUNNIES IN A FIELD OF DAISIES) and That’s Hollywood (DIRTY DEEDS).
