Genelec Active Home Theater Systems Launches A New Line Of Home Theater Products

Genelec, Inc., U.S. distributor of Genelec Active Home Theater Systems, introduces four new models that establish a dedicated line of high-end Consumer Audio products. The new models include: the HT205, HT206, HT208 Two-Way Bi-Amplified Active Monitors and HTS2 Active Subwoofer. The announcement was made at last weekís CEDIA Expo ë99 by Hank Finke, National Sales Manager for Genelec Active Home Theater Systems and further underscores Genelecís commitment to the high-end Home Theater and Consumer Audio markets. Genelec began developing active monitors over 20 years ago for the Professional Audio and Broadcast industries and is considered today the premier manufacturer of active recording studio monitors. As the high-end consumer audio market evolved, Genelec Active Studio Monitors found their way into home theater and surround sound installations. Genelec was then asked by consumers and custom installers to develop specific products for the Home Theater market. This R & D effort resulted in the new HT (Home Theater) products - an Active Home Theater Monitoring line with the ability to handle extremely high SPLs with wide dynamic range necessary to meet the needs of todayís Home Theater audiophile. HT205 The HT205 compact Active two-way, magnetically shielded speaker is designed to be used where space is at a premium. It is a completely self-powered speaker with an internal electronic crossover, room response equalizers and two 40 Watt amplifiers. The HT205 also features a 5""-inch woofer and a 3/4-inch metal dome tweeter loaded with Genelecís proprietary DCWô Directivity Control Waveguide Technology. The DCWô is said to provide an extremely stable and precise soundstage throughout the listening area. This improved directivity control results in more direct (and less reflected) sound reaching the listeners, which produces a more realistic and stable image. Compact (9-3/4-inch H x 6-inch W x 7-1/2-inch D), with the ability to achieve impressively high output from an enclosure of its size, the Genelec HT205 has a frequency response of 70Hzñ18 kHz ± 2.5dB and can achieve a maximum Acoustic output of 110dB SPL @ 1 meter. In addition, the HT205 includes RCA and balanced XLR inputs, plus integrated Omnimount Series 50 mounting threads, 3/8-inch mic stand threads and wall mount fixtures. The HT205 is available in an innovative aluminum cabinet with matte black finish. HT206 The HT206 is a compact magnetically shielded, two-way Active Near Field Monitor with a 6.5-inch woofer and 3/4-inch metal dome tweeter loaded with Genelecís DCWô. It features an integrated electronic crossover and amps (80 Watt and 50 Watt), room response equalizers and RCA, as well as balanced XLR inputs. The HT206 features an integrated electronic crossover and amplifiers (80 Watt and 50 Watt matched to the speakers), and has a frequency response of 55 Hzñ18 kHz ± 2.5dBIn addition, the HT206 can produce a maximum Acoustic output of 115dB SPL @ 1 meter. Room response equalizers and RCA, as well as balanced XLR inputs, are included. Measuring 12-1/3-inch H x 7-7/8-inch W x 9-1/2-inch D, the HT206 is available in black ""Producer"" finish. An optional black-knit removable grill is also available. HT208 The HT208 is a two-way Active Near Field Monitor, magnetically shielded, that employs an 8-inch woofer and 1-inch metal dome tweeter loaded with Genelecís Directivity Control Waveguide Technology. The HT208 includes an integrated electronic crossover, two 120 Watt amplifiers, room response equalizers and RCA, as well as balanced XLR inputs. The HT208 features a compact design (15-inch H x 9-7/8-inch W x 11-7/16-inch D) and includes an integrated electronic crossover, two 120 Watt amplifiers, room response equalizers and RCA, as well as balanced XLR inputs. The Genelec HT208 has a frequency response of 48 Hzñ22 kHz ± 2dB and can achieve a maximum Acoustic output of 120dB SPL @ 1 meter. In addition, the HT208 features a Signal Sensing-Auto-On/Off Circuit and is available in black ""Producer"" finish. An optional black-knit removable grill is also available. HTS2 The HTS2 Active Subwoofer rounds out the new Genelec HT range of Home Theater products. Featuring dual 8-inch woofers with a 180 Watt amplifier, the HTS2 Subwoofer is suitable for use with any of the new Genelec Home Theater products. In addition, the HTS2 Active Subwoofer is electronically bandpassed, and has a Signal Sensing-Auto On/Off Circuit plus level and phase controls that ensure coherent matching between the subwoofer and the main speakers, regardless of their physical position in the room. The Genelec HTS2 has a frequency response of 33 Hzñ80Hz ± 2.5dB and can achieve a maximum Acoustic output of 115dB SPL @ 1 meter. Available in black ""Producers"" finish and measuring 24-1/6-inch H x 12-1/2-inch W x 20-inch D, the HTS2 includes RCA and balanced XLR inputs. Commenting on the new Genelec HT line of Active Monitors, Hank Finke stated, ""Genelec has always been the preeminent reference monitor in the Professional Recording market. With the launch of the new HT series of Active Monitors, Genelec has raised the benchmark in Home Theater products and set a new standard by which all other monitors will be judged."" The new Genelec Home Theater products are currently available through Genelecís authorized Home Theater dealer network. The suggested retail prices for these models are: HT205 - $630 HT206 - $1,275 HT208 - $2,300 HTS2 - $2,300 Genelec, the pioneer in Active Monitoring technology, was founded in 1978 and has concentrated its efforts and resources into the design and manufacturing of active monitoring loudspeakers with unparalleled sonic accuracy. Genelec has been credited with promoting the concept of active monitors, a trend in technology that some manufacturers are just now incorporating into their products. The result is an active Home Theater monitoring system with accurate imaging, extremely high acoustic output from a very small enclosure, and true high fidelity with low-distortion and deep, rich bass.
