Pioneer Electronics Takes DVD On The RoadÖOr On A Plane, Or In A Car, Or In Another Room

Certainly a DVD home theatre is great to enjoy while youíre at home, but what happens when you want to enjoy the same experience on a plane, in the car or just in another room of your house? The solution is Pioneer Electronicsí introduction of the companyís first portable DVD player. With the largest active-matrix LCD screen in its category (7-inch), and a 16:9 (1.78:1) aspect ratio, the PDV-LC10 presents many of the feature advantages in a thin, streamlined, package that a standard DVD player offers. A headphone jack and internal stereo speakers allow for private or group use. The PDV-LC10 is also great for home use as it has a digital output, which allows connection to a separate DTS/Dolby Digital receiver for 5.1 channels of discrete sound. A 36-key, credit card style remote allows for easy control when the PDV-LC10 is being used as an integral part of a home theatre system. ""Watching a DVD is such an extraordinary experience, it seems a waste not to be able to enjoy the convenience of watching it anywhere,"" notes Matt Dever, Vice President, Marketing and Product Planning. ""With an ëon-the-goí lifestyle like most of us have, its nice to be able to take some of the comforts of home with you."" The PDV-LC10 is sure to satisfy any DVD enthusiast, with advanced features such as 10-bit video processing, 96kHz 24-bit digital-to-analog converters, and a DTS compatible digital output. The PDV-LC10ís video circuitry, gives improved video performance for DVD with a Pioneer - developed video LSI (Large Scale Integrated Circuit), which combines, on a single chip, the MPEG2 decoder, 10-bit video processor, 10-bit DAC, NTSC encoder and audio decoder. On the audio side, the PDV-LC10 boasts a 96kHz 24-bit digital-to-analog converter for playback of digital audio discs and a DTS compatible digital output for playback of DTS encoded DVDs. A nickel-hydride battery that comes standard with the PDV-LC10 lasts for 3 * hours (longest battery life of any portable DVD player). The PDV-LC10 is available in October at a suggested retail price of $1,545. For more information, contact Chris Walker at 310 952 2401.
