Dolby Headphone - A New dimension For Inflight Entertainment

On May 1, 1999, Singapore Airlines (SIA) introduced revolutionary Dolby Headphone technology to its passengers in all classes. A signal-processing technology developed by Lake DSP of Australia that simulates cinema-quality surround sound over standard stereo headphones, Dolby Headphone will be available in consumer electronics products during the first half of 2000. Singapore Airlines passengers, however, are the first to experience Dolby Headphone, via the airline's in-flight entertainment system, KrisWorld. With Dolby Headphone, listeners experience theater-like surround sound from multichannel programs over their favorite stereo headphones, as though from ""the best seat in the house."" And on all material, including conventional stereo programs, the listener hears the sound much more naturally, with far less of the in-the-head effect of conventional headphone listening.
