ProScan Brand Digital High-Resolution Monitors Target Custom Install Education, Leisure Markets With HDTV-Quality Picture Performance
ProScan brand digital high-resolution color TV monitors with two SVGA/VGA compatibility in both rear-projection and direct-view models are planned for the growing commercial sector including custom install, education and leisure markets. The latest high-resolution monitors from Thomson Consumer Electronics offer the ultimate in versatility with the capability for displaying images using either interlace (conventional television) or progressive scan (computer) methods. When teamed with the ProScan PSHD105 digital HDTV set-top converter, these monitors will deliver an HDTV-quality picture. ""These new high resolution digital monitors address the needs of a broad scope of commercial customers whose clients demand the big-screen experience with lifelike picture and sound as well as the capability for computer and video game applications,"" said Steve Atkinson, General Manager, Strategic Channel Sales. On display at the annual CEDIA Expo í99, the ProScan monitors include the PS61800HR (suggested retail price $3,499) 61-inch (diagonal) rear projection model. Direct-view models are the 36-inch PS36800HR (suggested retail price $2,299). Stunning color video images of both rear projection and direct-view models are assured by advanced picture performance enhancements. The PS61800HR features a Digital High-Resolution Optics package that incorporates a dark-tint screen with up to 2 percent more brightness than a conventional screen, a custom-designed digital high-resolution lens system, and digital high-resolution projection tubes. When connected with the PSHD105, the rear projection monitor delivers video images with up to 1.3 million pixels. The direct-view PS36800HR and PS32800HR feature a Digital Precision Pitch Picture Tube with 0.68mm center screen pitch that provides crisp focus and rich color images. When combined with an INVAR shadow mask and 3-Line Digital Comb Filter, these monitors deliver the sharpest picture available. A total of 40 inputs are provided to assure virtually unlimited connections with external components. The connections include 3 each A/V Auto Detectable S-Video, 2 SVGA/VGA, Component Video Input (Y,Pr,Pb), and Front A/V with USB Port. Convenience features include Advanced Twin-Tuner Picture-in-Picture, On-Screen Menu System, Picture Reset, and Universal Glo-in-the-Dark Remote Control.
