The ProScan PSHD105 high-definition digital set-top receiver is the ideal platform for transitioning the viewer into tomorrowís digital world of television entertainment as well as delivering HDTV-quality picture performance to high-resolution display monitors. The PSHD105 (suggested retail price $649) enables the user to receive most broadcasts, including over 200 channels of DirecTVÆ satellite programs along with all current analog programming, local HDTV and DirecTV HDTV transmissions, and analog cable broadcasts. The PSHD105 easily connects to existing analog TVs, ProScan and RCA brand digital high-resolution monitors, or plasma display monitors for optimum picture performance and offers the ultimate in audio with DolbyÆ Digital 5-channel Surround Sound capability. The PSHD105 receives the same broad range of programming as Thomsonís fully integrated digital HDTV models including all 18 Advanced Television Systems committee (ATSC) digital formats. When connected to analog TVs, the set-top device automatically converts the robust digital signal into an analog display that provides dramatically improved picture and sound capability. When teamed with a ProScan or RCA brand high-resolution monitor, the result is an HDTV-quality picture displayed on a 4x3 television screen. Recognizing that the scope of television programming will be extensive, Thomson designers have incorporated a user-friendly on-screen electronic program guide into the PSHD105. The guide provides a comprehensive listing of available programs as well as the capability for developing favorite-channels listings, one-touch VCR recording, and one-touch tuning. Connection options include an RGB-VGA interface output, RF output, two pair of A/V outputs, S-Video output, telco modem connector, and optical audio output.
