ICIA Launches Electronic Cinema Alliance

New Initiative to Promote the Use of E-cinema Throughout the World The International Communications Industries Association, Inc. (ICIA), has announced the launch of the Electronic Cinema Alliance (ECA), a coalition of more than 50 entertainment industry insiders including major film studio executives, theatre owners, projector manufacturers and dealers and entertainment professionals in the film capital of the world. The goal of the ECA is to create an international clearinghouse for all e-cinema positions and study the use of its application, technical delivery, promotion and business issues. ""ECA is the first organized effort that fully addresses e-cinema's growth and implementation today and for the years to come,"" said Walter Blackwell, Executive Director of ICIA. ""This summer's world e-cinema premiers of Lucasfilms' ""Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace"" and Miramax Films' ""An Ideal Husband"" necessitated the launch of the ECA. E-Cinema is a major innovation in the way entertainment is delivered, The ECA will collect and disseminate the technical, educational and other promotional materials that will spur the financial and artistic growth of e-cinema""
