Lutronís Spacer Systemô Infrared Preset Lighting Controls Create And Recall Multiple Lighting Scenes At A Touch Of A Button

First there was SpacerÆ, the dimmer that can be operated from anywhere in a room with a hand-held remote control. Introduced just over three years ago by Lutron Electronics Co., Inc., Spacer has become a popular dimming choice for rooms where lighting needs change frequently such as entertainment rooms, kitchens, spas, bedrooms and home offices. Now Lutron is taking the concept of its convenient Spacer remote control dimmer to a whole new level of flexibility with Spacer Systemô infrared preset lighting controls. Easy to install, program and operate, Spacer System is designed for areas where there is a need for more dimming options - executive offices, cafes, boutiques, small conference rooms, home theatres and great rooms. It can create and recall multiple lighting scenes, or one Favorite Scene, from the hand-held remote controls or from the wall-mounted master control. ""Lutron is well-known for innovation in lighting controls and lighting control systems,"" said Rob Weinberg, Lutronís Vice President of Marketing Operations, ""but the excitement surrounding this new product, both inside and outside the company, is phenomenal. We expect that Spacer System will soon be winning awards as many awards as the original Spacer. ""Where there's space for a switch, there's a place for Spacer System,"" Weinberg continued. ""Spacer System has it all - it adds flexibility and convenience to any space, it's simple to program and operate, and, best of all, it's very affordable."" Without going to the expense of having a large lighting control system, Spacer System offers varied lighting options for smaller areas - all at the touch of a button on the remote control. By changing light levels or by using the lights in different combinations, the lighting scenes can be preset to accommodate various activities and create different moods. Two different remote controls are available. The Favorite Scene hand-held remote control can recall one preset scene for a specific time or activity - for instance, this option would be handy in a cafÈ to bring all light levels down in the late evening or in a home theater to adjust lighting for a ""relax and watch a movie"" configuration. The four scene hand-held remote control is useful where more than one scene is desired. Both remote controls also have an Off button and a master raise/lower control. For added convenience Spacer System offers an optional four scene wall-mounted master control as well. Just like programming a car radio, the user can set and recall four lighting scenes or a Favorite Scene. To program Spacer System, the user simply sets the desired light level at each individual dimmer, then presses and holds the corresponding preset scene button on the remote, or the wall-mounted master control, until LEDs flash indicating that the scene is set. For the four-scene remote control, those steps are repeated for each scene. Spacer System also offers a choice of fade-to-off times - three seconds, ten seconds and up to one minute delayed off - which adds extra flexibility. For even greater convenience, all of the dimmers function individually as well as part of the system. In addition, Spacer System hand-held remote controls are compatible with other learnable remote controls. Easy to install, the microprocessor-based Spacer System - appropriate for incandescent and halogen lighting - uses standard wiring. Replace the existing switches with Spacer System dimmers, set the lighting scenes and Spacer System is ready to operate. Like the original Spacer, patented technology allows Spacer System remote controls and the wall dimmer/infrared receiver to operate all dimming functions and ""smart"" features.
