Disneyís ""A Bugís Life"" Scheduled For DVD

Buena Vista Home Entertainment has announced that A Bugís Life will be Disneyís first major animated film to be released April 20 day-and-date on DVD and VHS. As previously reported, Buena Vista has been reluctant to release its animated catalog on DVD. The DVD version of A Bugís Life will carry a $34.99 suggested retail price (SRP), while the VHS version will carry a $26.99 SRP. Both editions will contain outtakes and the Pixar-animated Geriís Game. While the VHS packaging for A Bugís Life will be a mix of box art featuring one of the main characters ñ Flik, Heimlich, Dot and Francis, and a limited issue of villainous Hopper ñ there was no announcement on whether the DVD packaging will be similarly offered. The announcement did make clear that day-and-date releasing will ""not be an ongoing policy"" for future releases, although Mighty Jo Young was announced as a simultaneous release slated for March 23. The DVD version will have a SRP of $29.99. The VHS version also will be released day-and-date with the DVD and carry a $24.99 SRP.
