ShowEast Bullish On Fall Films

The ShowEast convention wound up Thursday evening with exhibitors generally upbeat that product coming to their screens this fall will extend the record boxoffice run of the past few months to the end of the year. Although films screened at the confab generally lacked wide commercial appeal, with the notable exception of Warner Bros.' Tom Hanks-starrer ""The Green Mile,"" movie theatre operators have high expectations for a broad slate of Hollywood releases in the run-up to Christmas. In particular, they look forward to a cluster of films targeted at children during the holiday season, including Warner's ""Pokemon,"" Sony's ""Stuart Little"" and especially Disney and Pixar's ""Toy Story 2."" But action films such as MGM's latest James Bond installment ""The World Is Not Enough"" and Universal's Arnold Schwarzenegger vehicle ""End of Days"" are also eagerly awaited.
