The following statement was released by Consumer Electronics Manufacturers Association (CEMA) President Gary Shapiro regarding todayís vote by the Electronic Industries Alliance (EIA) Board of Governors to allow separate incorporation for its sector associations. ""Todayís vote is a win-win for all involved. This new structure will enable EIA and each sector association to grow and prosper as well as better meet the needs of our members. It is the natural next step in the process begun in 1997 when we created the Alliance concept. ""For CEMA, this represents an exciting opportunity to redefine and reorganize our association to reflect the excitement and dynamism of the consumer electronics industry. It also presents an opportunity to better tailor our services and strategic plans to meet our membersí needs and create an even more compelling, innovative and entrepreneurial workplace to retain and attract the best and the brightest employees. ""We are excited about the opportunities and possibilities created by separate incorporation. We look forward to working with our volunteer leadership to leverage this opportunity to pursue the best interests of our members and our industry.""
