Canadians On digital TV Watch

Canadian broadcasters said Monday they will wait up to two years before they follow their U.S. counterparts and roll out digital TV. Michael McEwen, President of Canadian Digital Television, an industry-driven agency charged with implementing Canada's transition from analog, told delegates to the annual Canadian Association of Broadcasters convention that Canada would introduce digital in 2004, well after 2002 when the U.S. rollout of digital TV would be ""mature,"" The Canadian strategy for digital TV has been to watch and learn from the U.S. experience to minimize the transition costs to domestic broadcasters and consumers.
