""Iron Giant"" Stands Tall, Sweeps Up Nine Annies

Warner Bros.' ""The Iron Giant"" swept the 27th annual Annie Awards on Saturday night, taking home nine medals including one for outstanding achievement in an animated theatrical feature. The black-tie event drew nearly 900 people to the Alex Theatre in Glendale, where Rob Paulsen and Maurice LaMarche co-hosted. The Annies, which recognize achievement in animated films and television shows, are presented by ASIFA-Hollywood, the International Animated Film Society. Based on Ted Hughes' children's book of the same name, ""The Iron Giant"" also earned awards for writing, directing, voice acting, character animation, effects animation, music, production design and storyboarding. On the TV side, Gracie Films/20th Century Fox Television's long-running comedy series ""The Simpsons"" earned a pair of honors, including outstanding achievement in an animated television program Source: The Hollywood Reporter
