Barco Announces New Line Of Home Theatre Projectors To Be Distributed Through Runco International

[Editor ñ We received notice from Barco to issue a clarification to the original story posted on November 3, 1999 indicating that ""In the U.S.A. the Barco products will be distributed through Runco International.""] Barco, one of the leading producers of front projector television for the commercial display and simulator market has reveled exclusively to Widescreen Review a new line of projectors specifically engineered for the growing worldwide home theatre market. The new models called the Cine' series will be available in internationally starting in December 1999. The line will initially be limited to CRT projection and then expanded to other forms of projection display (DLP, LCD). The first models introduced are the Cine' 5 and Cine' 6 models. The Cine' 5 is a standard scan projector (15.75 kHz; $5,995 MSRP). The Cine' 6 is very compact 7-inch CRT HDTV ready projector (38.8kHz) and will feature a silent air cooled design, electrostatic focus, color corrected air or (optional) liquid coupled color corrected lenses, Barco's IRIS 3 auto convergence and auto geometry circuitry (optional), and a built-in line doubler with 3/2 pulldown circuitry, for under $10,000 retail. These projectors will be followed by 7-inch, 8-inch, 9-inch and 12-inch electromagnetically focused CRT projectors. All will feature cabinetry, circuit design and functionality specifically tailored for the best presentation of video in the home environment. Barco is Europeís leading manufacturer of display devices with sales in excess of $700 million worldwide. All the products will be marketed internationally through Barco's distribution network. In the U.S.A. the Barco products will be distributed through Runco International.
