Kodak underscored its commitment to digital imaging and outlined a new strategy for its Hollywood Imaging Center and Cinesite facility during the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE) conference. In Kodak's strongest public show of support of digital cinema, Kodak Entertainment Imaging President Joerg Agin told SMPTE attendees in a keynote address at New York's Marriott Marquis on Saturday that Kodak is ""committed to a serious and long-term effort in digital motion picture technology that matches our traditional commitment to film."" That effort ""will be led by Cinesite and the Kodak imaging complex in Hollywood,"" where ""digital mastering"" has be-come a point of focus and Kodak's ""entry point"" to digital cinema. The intermediate manipulation of films that have been scanned in their entirety into the digital domain is another key initiative at Kodak Hollywood, Agin said. The process allows color or any other visual aspect of a film to be manipulated on a shot-by-shot - or even frame-by- frame - basis, giving filmmakers the same creative freedom - and control - enjoyed by TV and commercial directors and post houses.Source: The Hollywood Reporter
