At COMDEX, JVC confirmed that it will soon unveil a single-chip D-ILA. The company will introduce a widescreen 50-inch rear-screen HDTV set for the home using D-ILA technology. The display will use a new single-chip hologram technology that JVC claims internally that it will bring resolutions that rival the 3-chip D-ILA system. Using a native resolution 1024 x 1028, 1.2-inch D-ILA chip, the projector will be part of a new series of products called Panorama Vision. The display will use a 200-watt mercury lamp and will be DTV and HDTV-ready (including 1080i, 720p, 480p and DTV rates). On-board video includes a 10-bit digital gamma correction processing circuit.The display will list in Japan for approximately 800,000 Yen and it will ship first quarter.
