Toshiba Offers Its First-Ever Plasma Display

Widescreen Display Is Just 3.5-Inches Deep With 550:1 Contrast Ratio

Toshiba recently began shipping its first-ever plasma display panel. The 42-inch 1.78:1 (16:9) widescreen Model PD42W1U utilizes todayís most advanced flat-panel plasma technology to offer the highest contrast ratio (550:1) of any plasma display in the industry. Measuring just 3.5-inches deep, the PD42W1U is also one of the thinnest plasma displays available. ""With its incredibly crisp and detailed picture, as well as its unprecedented flexibility in placement convenience, the PD42W1U is the ultimate display device for the growing digital signage market as well as for all corporate and industrial users who want the highest quality display for any high-traffic area, including airports, corporate suites at sports complexes, retail outlets and conference rooms,"" noted Robert Bennett, Toshiba National Sales and Marketing Manager, Professional Display Products. Equipped with video composite inputs and outputs, as well as S-video and RGB inputs, the PD42W1U provides 852 x 480 resolution and is compatible with NTSC, PAL and SECAM sources. In addition, Toshibaís PD42W1U is able to display 1080i high-definition TV signals. For total flexibility in display placement, the ultra-thin PD42W1U offers five separate installation options, including a pedestal (for tabletop use), angled and flush wall-mounts and a wall stand. A special mobile stand provides additional flexibility in presentation display options. Additionally, the set features a built-in 8-watt amplifier for easy connection to external speakers. Physical dimensions of the PD42W1U are 40-inch x 24.9-inch x 3.5-inch (W x H x D), and the set weighs just 72.8 lbs. The PD42W1U is currently available at a list price of $12,495.00.
