Toshiba Ships Its First DVD-Video Player Designed For Professional Use

Toshiba, a leader in digital technology and a primary developer of the DVD-Video format, recently announced that it has begun shipping its first-ever DVD-Video player designed for professional use, the Model SD-B100. ""Toshibaís expertise in digital technologies and manufacturing has made it the clear leader in the consumer DVD-Video format,"" noted Robert Bennett, Toshiba National Sales and Marketing Manager, Professional Display Products. ""Now the company is bringing its unique knowledge and abilities in DVD to the professional marketplace with a commercial-grade, super durable player designed to stand up to both professional standards of image quality as well as the rigors of high-use, rack-mounted situations such as in niteclubs, retail outlets, and educational institutions."" The Toshiba SD-B100 is designed for superior picture quality and durability, as well as the ultimate in both flexibility and convenience. Features include an RS232 connector with remote, providing a Multiple Command Protocol System that offers easy multi-software accessibility via the remote control. In addition, the playerís Virtual Control Function gives users remote control access to a daisy chain of up to 31 separate players. The RS232 remote will also control convenience features such as chapter search, title search and time-code readout. The SD-B100 also includes a standard IR remote for single player use. The SD-B100ís solid, heavy-duty aluminum case is designed to be half the width of standard video components, allowing two units to be mounted side-by-side in an equipment rack. This saves valuable space and keeps all units within easy reach for quick disc changes. The SD-B100 is capable of playing DVD, CD and Video CDs. Outputs include composite and S-video connectors in addition to the RS232 connector.
