TeraLogic And InterVideo Partner To Integrate Advanced DVD And Digital Television Applications For The PC

Strategic Partnership To Deliver High-Performance, Cost-Effective Digital Video Features To PC OEMs

TeraLogic, Inc., a leading developer of digital television (DTV) technologies, has announced that it is teaming with InterVideo, Inc., to provide the first ever HDTV/DVD integrated reference platform for PC OEMs. TeraLogic and InterVideo featured their technologies at Fall Comdex in Las Vegas on November 15-19. The partnership is based on TeraLogic's Janus chip and reference design, which enables high-definition DTV (HDTV) for the PC, and InterVideo's award-winning DVD software player/decoder, WinDVD. The combined technologies will enable PCs to upgrade DVD-quality video to a true HD quality experience. InterVideo's DVD software performs DVD navigation, CSS, tamper resistance, synchronization, surround sound DolbyÆ Digital (AC-3Æ) decoding and sub-picture decoding while the TeraLogic's Janus IC decodes the DVD stream and upsamples the video to high definition with its integrated, studio-quality line-doubler. ""Our relationship with TeraLogic represents our first entry into the burgeoning DTV market,"" said Joe Monastiero, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for InterVideo. ""This is a perfect combination of technologies that will provide consumers with an exciting and affordable way to experience enhanced digital video technologies."" ""By working with InterVideo, we continue to play a leading role in delivering the most advanced DTV solutions for the PC,"" said Kishore Manghnani, Vice President of Marketing at TeraLogic. ""The ability to view high-definition DVD on the PC is a much more compelling experience and should spur the sales of DVD-ROMs, Janus-based retail PC cards and InterVideo's digital video and audio products."" TeraLogic's groundbreaking DTVPC solution is based on its Janus chip, the PC industry's first chip capable of decoding and displaying onto a PC all 18 ATSC DTV formats, including true high-definition (HD) formats such as 1080i and 720p. Janus's on-chip line doubler and advanced video scaler can also up-convert native NTSC and DVD video streams to HD video formats. Native NTSC (such as cable TV) displays 150K pixels per frame. True HD displays one million pixels per frame - the same resolution available on most PC monitors. With TeraLogic's single-chip solution, consumers can also enjoy data broadcasting applications, such as statistics with sports events and e-commerce. About InterVideo, Inc. InterVideo's executive team is comprised of PC veterans instrumental in the formation of the PC multimedia industry, coming from industry pioneering companies such as NexGen, LuxSonor, Sigma Designs, Chromatic Research, Conexant, Zoran, MetaCreations and E4.
