Samsung Expands Line Of DVD Players With Two New Models
Samsung Electronics America, Inc. has introduced two new High Resolution DVD players, models, DVD909 and DVD709. ""Over the past year, Samsung has taken the lead in digital innovation in many categories. These new players are just one example,"" says Mark Knox, Senior Manager for Digital Products Marketing. ""The DVD 909, with Component Video Outputs, enhanced audio functions including DTSÆ capability and a variety of DolbyÆ Digital functions, offers the features and performance that the new Audio/Videophiles demand. The DVD709 offers a high quality, DTS Compatible yet cost-effective solution, for any home theater enthusiast."" Suggested retail price is $349 for the DVD 709 and $449 for the DVD 909. The units will begin shipping in the first quarter of 1999. The DVD 709 and DVD9O9 both feature a virtual Dolby Digital 2-speaker surround system, advanced 10-Bit video D/A (Digital-to-Analog Converter) and high speed, high linearity 96kHz/24-bit D/A Audio converters. The step-up features available only on the 909 include Component Video output, a full Dolby Digital decoding system and a jog shuttle dial on both the chassis and remote. The DVD709 includes L/R Analog Audio output terminals, Composite and S-Video output terminals, and an Optical Digital Audio Output terminal.
