""Lights, camera, download!"" Hoping to tap into the burgeoning online education market, UCLA is forming an Internet-based film school in conjunction with institutions in Australia and the United Kingdom. Developers of the Global Film School plan to begin offering online courses in directing, producing, screenwriting, editing, cinematography and other subjects by late next year.Professors will be drawn from UCLA, the National Film and Television School of Great Britain and the Australian Film, Television and Radio School. Robert Rosen, dean of UCLA's School of Theater, Film and Television, said he wants to attract would-be directors with families or full-time jobs that they can't abandon, as well as the many applicants who don't make the competitive cut for traditional film school slots. More than 700 applicants vied for 21 spots in UCLA's directing school last year, he said.
