DTS has named Ross Hering Vice President of Marketing for its newly formed Professional Audio division. In this role, Mr. Heringís first priority is to direct the launch of the companyís 5.1 Mastering Encoder for studios creating multi-channel film and music content for DVD, DVD-A, and CD. The announcement was made by Dan Slusser, CEO.Mr. Hering brings to DTS fifteen years of success in the entertainment industry developing and marketing technology-based businesses related to film sound. He was instrumental in the development of Lucasfilmís THX division where, for its first decade, he worked closely with THX inventor Tomlinson Holman to establish THX as an internationally recognized standard of excellence for film sound presentation. After Lucasfilm, he rejoined Mr. Holman in a similar capacity at TMH Corporation. Most recently, Mr. Hering was Vice President of Marketing at DES, a technology service provider to feature filmmakers. He was responsible for strategic planning and development, which included branding and positioning of the company within emerging internet-based markets.
