Breakthrough Products From Arcam, DCS, Acoustic Energy, Castle Acoustics, And Audio Vector At Alexis Park For CES 2000

According to Gary Warzin, President of Indianapolis based importer/distributor Audiophile Systems, ""Lots of exciting things are happening for us this year at CES. We had to take nearly an entire floor at the Alexis Park to show all the exciting new products! Usually we give out room numbers, but this time weíre just telling people to visit us on the 2nd Floor of Building 23 at the Alexis Park."" Here are a few of the highlights: ARCAM will be showing a DVD player as part of their new FMJ series. Weíre told that this player IS NOT an OEM unit with a few tweaks, but has been (read with a British accent) ""properly engineered from the ground up to provide enthusiast-level performance."" We donít have all the details but weíve been told to expect dual power supplies, high-quality DACs, broadcast-quality video outputs, etc. etc. More details will be available at the show. DCS will be showing off the new Delius DAC as well as the Purcell Upsampler. dCS has been creating quite a stir by upsampling 16-bit/44.1kHz CDs to 24/192. Reviewers are reporting that normal CDs, upsampled through dCS components, can deliver results approaching that of the new SACD and DVD-Audio formats. Imagine being able to get new life out of your entire existing CD collection! Weíll be in sub-woofer heaven with both CASTLE and AUDIOVECTOR showing exciting new subs. The Castle unit was designed in conjunction with ATC and the Audiovector sub features a newly designed driver with a 70mm throw! Castleís sub is part of their new Inversion collection designed by Allen Boothroydís Cambridge Product Design Company. ACOUSTIC ENERGY will launch the AEGIS Compact at $229 a pair. It uses the same metal cone bass unit as the award-winning Aegis One and continues to demonstrate Acoustic Energyís uncanny ability to deliver high-performance speakers at an amazingly affordable price.
