CinemaNow Signs Deals With Tech Partners

Online film distributor CinemaNow, which launched this month, has signed deals with Microsoft and other tech partners. CinemaNow has tapped iBeam Network to provide media streaming for its Web site, which offers features and short films on demand. In addition, the company signed Encoding.com to offer high-quality encoding and Microsoft to help prepare broadband content and speed up the service's distribution. The site, which recently bought Internet rights to 400 Hong Kong titles from Tai Seng Video, also acquired the rights to the 13-short series ""News from the West"" from the Chamber of Poets. Three shorts are now available on the site, along with Trimark's ""Warlock"" and Tai Seng's Michelle Yeoh starrer ""Wing Chun."" CinemaNow is a subsidiary of Trimark Pictures that builds on Trimark's existing library of nearly 650 titles.
