Several sources have begun reporting that 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment and Lucasfilm ltd. have agreed to release ""Star Wars: Episode I ñ The Phantom Menace"" on VHS, but not on DVD, April 4, 2000. Pricing details have not yet been made available. It remains to be seen if Fox and Lucasfilm can be pressured into releasing their blockbuster on the technically superior DVD format as well.""The Phantom Menace"" was initially released to theatres on May 19, 1999 to mixed reviews but tremendous box office success. To date, it has grossed over $400 million domestically placing it number three on the all-time box office champions list, behind the original ""Star Wars"" (1977) and ""Titanic"" (1997).
