Displaytech To Showcase LightCaster FLCD Technology At CES 2000
Displaytech, the only company in the world providing (FLCD) microdisplays to consumer electronics manufacturers, will showcase its new LightCasterô panel in Samsung's new 43-inch and 50-inch HDTVs, which will be unveiled at CES 2000 in Displaytech's booth in the Digital Living Room Pavilion, Exhibit 6748. LightCaster microdisplay panels use patented ferroelectric liquid crystal display (FLCD) technology to project full-color, flicker-free, high-resolution images onto large screens in both front and rear projection applications. LightCaster technology significantly reduces the space needed for self-contained projection devices, allowing a 50-inch rear projection device to have a depth of 14 inches. In addition, it delivers a resolution of 1280 x 786 pixels, has an active area of 16.9 x 10.14 mm, and an array diagonal of 0.78-inch. In this sea of look-alike technology, (FLCD) is a clear cut example of true innovation. Displaytech's FLCD panels offer a number of advantages over contemporary video display products: - It provides full motion, high resolution, full color images that consume a fraction of the power required by conventional displays, in a package small enough to fit on a fingertip. - The small form factor, low power consumption, low price and exceptional performance of FLCDs position them as the technology of choice for all future video applications.
