Toshiba Direct-View SuperTUBE Color TV Line Focuses Clearly On The Future

Toshibaís advanced direct-view SuperTUBE TVs exemplify the companyís focus on the future and its commitment to offering consumers the broadest range of digital and analog home entertainment products. The line, which includes the new Cinema Series FST Pure widescreen Model CW34X92 (see related release), incorporates the most advanced features and proprietary technologies to ensure that the TV set consumers buy today will continue to offer state-of-the-art viewing enjoyment well into the 21st century. ColorStream Component Video: Connection To The Future Toshiba pioneered the ColorStream component video connection as a way for TV viewers to enjoy the maximum picture performance from digital sources, and this year the company is featuring the technology in 12 direct-view TVs, including two 27-inch sets, the CZ27V51 and the Cinema Series Model CN27V71. In fact, ColorStream component video inputs are now standard on all single- and dual-tuner PIP models. Component video inputs are the ideal way to enjoy the maximum picture quality of DVD movies, offering superior image quality and color purity. Component video is also the best way to ensure superior signal quality from a DTV set-top box. Advanced Image-Improving Technologies For Superb Picture Quality Toshibaís entire SuperTUBE line benefits from a wide range of the industryís most advanced image-enhancing technologies. For example, all 36-inch models feature INVAR Shadow Mask technology. INVAR is a special nickel-iron alloy that resists thermal expansion, allowing the set to operate at the higher voltages necessary for the brightest, sharpest possible picture. In addition, digital comb filters in all 27-inch PIP models, as well as all 32-inch and larger models ensure crisp, clear pictures. A Picture Preference mode on 27-inch and larger sets lets viewers custom tailor their picture for the ideal home theater experience in a wide variety of room lighting situations. Picture Preference offers automatic settings for Normal viewing, a warmer, higher-contrast Theater mode, and a custom Memory setting. Another key image-enhancing technology is Toshibaís Color Temperature Control, which offers viewers a choice of three color temperature selections ñ ""cool"" (10,500? K), ""medium"" (8,500? K) and ""warm"" (6,500? K) ñ enabling them to adjust the overall ""warmth"" or white balance of the image. The Warm setting is especially appreciated by movie lovers who want to watch films as the director intended, with a color temperature identical to the 6,500? K NTSC standard. Expanded Jack Pack For Future Home Theatre Connectivity For total flexibility and connectivity with a wide variety of additional home theater components, all SuperTUBE sets feature Toshibaís expanded jack pack assortment that features at least two A/V inputs, one A/V output as well as an S-Video input. In addition, all dual-tuner PIP direct-view sets include dual RF inputs. More Convenience And Flexibility Viewer convenience is a top priority on all new Toshiba SuperTUBE TVs. For instance, many new sets feature the companyís tri-lingual icon-based on-screen display system that makes it easier than ever before to navigate through the entire range of TV functions. For a higher level of viewing enjoyment and convenience, many SuperTUBE sets are equipped with MultiWindow dual-tuner PIP, which allows viewers to watch two programs simultaneously. In MultiWindow Preview, viewers can scan available channels in six windows underneath the main picture; in MultiWindow Favorite Channel, nine separate windows display the favorite channels that viewers pre-select, allowing them to directly tune to a desired channel simply with the on-screen cursor; and in MultiWindow Strobe, nine windows are used to show a time-lapse display of a broadcast signal or other video source. All Toshiba Cinema Series TVs feature the companyís new Learning Remote Control, which allows users to easily control a wide variety of additional home theater components. Other direct-view sets feature the Toshiba Sleek Universal Remote or back-lit Advanced Universal Remote. The ergonomically designed Sleek Universal Remote provides control over both VCRs and cable boxes with fewer keys, making TV operations more user-friendly. The backlight on Toshiba's Advanced Universal Remote is ideal for enjoying home theater in low-light situations.
