DTS Entertainment Announces New 5.1 Music Disc

Continuing to support growing consumer interest in multichannel music, DTS Entertainment has announced exciting new releases of 5.1 music on compact disc from pop ""superstars"" and fast rising newcomers. The first superstar release slated for this month is an exclusive 5.1 re-mix of the mega-hit The Police: Every Breath You TakeÖ, featuring many of The Police's most popular hit songs. Consumers with DTS-capable playback systems can now enjoy powerful new 5.1 re-mixes of their favorite songs from this influential '80s group. The next new title (February) is Sting's most recent hit album Brand New Day. Entering the market only a few months after the stereo version, this 5.1 CD release begins a new trend of ""shortening the window"" between stereo and 5.1 releases of popular recordings. Later in the first half of the year, DTS Entertainment will also release the world's first 5.1 mix of a major rap album, Snoop Dogg's No Limit Top Dogg, followed by the timeless classic from Don Henley, The End of the Innocence. In addition, the year 2000 marks the debut of several fast-rising new artists, entering the record industry with 5.1 recordings prior to the stereo releases. Featured in the first group of new releases will be Larisa Stow (a dynamic new singer/songwriter), PCH (a hot new country/pop group from LA), Studio Voodoo (a superb mix of synthesizers and samplers), and The Gluey Bros. (featuring one of the hottest 5.1 mixes ever created). All DTS-encoded Music CDs can be played by connecting the digital output from a CD player, DVD player, CD-ROM drive or DVD-ROM drive to a 5.1 DTS-capable playback system. About DTS DTS was launched with the Universal Pictures/Amblin Entertainment theatrical release of ""Jurassic Park,"" and since then the company has remained a leader in feature film digital audio with more than 18,000 installations worldwide. DTS Consumer Products, Inc. (a subsidiary of DTS, Inc.) licenses its technology to hardware and software manufacturers to create Digital Surroundô products for the home and car that are changing the way consumers listen to music recordings and movie soundtracks on compact disc, LaserDisc and all DVD formats.
