New 1999 Definitive Technology Speakers Definitive Technology has introduced several new speaker models for 1999.

New BP3000TL: The new BP3000TL is the long awaited step-up above the BP2000. Definitiveís BP2000 is one of the most successful high-end speakers in history and its unique built-in powered subwoofer technology has literally created a new speaker category. The BP3000TL is a full range bipolar system which incorporates a 1000 watt powered cast basket transmission-line loaded subwoofer in each sleek cabinet, blended with a dual DíAppolito bipolar array (each with 4 Definitive 6-inch cast-basket bass/midrange drivers and 2 Definitive 1-inch pure aluminum dome tweeters.) The front and rear arrays are housed in different sized, highly damped chambers (each of which is tuned to a different frequency) combined with separately configured front crossovers, which the company says results in extremely coherent wave propagation and very linear overall system frequency response. The surprisingly compact (55-inch H X 9-inch W X 19-inch D) BP3000TL also features 2000 watts driving two 18-inch subwoofers! Overall frequency response is 13Hz-30kHz Recommended associated amplification is 30-600 watts. The BP3000TL is bi-wireable, tri-wireable, has a separate low level input for the woofer, plus a separate low-level LFE input for the woofer, and there is an auto on/off circuit and low frequency level control. Retail price is $2,250.00 each. - New BP2000TL: The BP2000 has been significantly upgraded and improved and incorporates the same engineering and performance advances developed for the BP3000TL. These include a new 1,000 watt amplifier utilizing the direct coupled Infinite Power Source amplifier technology developed for the BP3000TL, the TL computer-synthesized transmission line woofer loading technology, the new Digital Synchronization System coupling technology as well as completely new cross-over, internal topography changes and the addition of a separate LFE as well as a full range low level input. The result, says the company, is a dramatic improvement in sound quality in many areas including bass (deeper, tighter and more detailed with greatly improved impact, linearity, transient response and blending with the rest of the system), midrange (smoother, more detailed and more three dimensional), high end (more extended, smoother and with higher definition) and imaging (big at the same time with better focus and specificity). Frequency Response is 15Hz-30kHz. Recommended associated amplification is 20-500 watts. Suggested retail remains the same at $900 each. - New C/WR3000: Definitiveís new C/L/R3000 is the world's first center channel loudspeaker to include a built-in powered subwoofer combnied with a DíAppolito array for full-range reproduction capability. The C/WR3000 has gloss black end caps, wrap-around grill sock, built-in vertical angle adjustment, auto on/off, complete shielding, a low frequency level control and measures a compact (25-inch W X 8 5/16-inch H X 16-inch D. Recommended associated amplification is 20-400 watts. Overall frequency response is 19Hz-30kHz. Retail price is $999. - New ProTower400: The ProTower400 is a new addition to Definitiveís f ProCinema Series. The ProTower is a sleekly sculptured, direct radiating, floorstanding system which includes high-output, built-in, twin powered subwoofers in each cabinet. The full range driver array consists of a Definitive cast-basket 6 1/2-inch bass midrange driver integrated with a 1-inch pure aluminum dome tweeter. This is blended with the built-in powered subwoofer which consists of a 125 watt amp driving two low-resonance Definitive 6 1/2-inch cast-basket drivers in a computer synthesized transmission-line slot loaded configuration with auto on/off and low frequency level control. The cabinet technology and construction is said to be extremely sophisticated and very complex. The unique low-resonance cabinet is molded out of Definitive developed PolyStoneô a dense, non-resonant, mineral-filled polymer, and braced with a complex system of crossmembers which have been precisely configured to eliminate cabinet coloration. The upper range driver array is housed within its own separate sub-enclosure, which is actually floating within the main cabinet with a unique double wall topology. This sub-enclosure radiates no sound externally because it is entirely isolated within the main enclosure. In addition the sub-enclosure is further divided internally into four separate sub-enclosures each of which is a different size and tuned to a different frequency in order, says the company, to further smooth the response. The signature NROC cabinet curve, says the company, eliminates internal cabinet reflections to ensure the purest sonic reproduction possible. Overall dimensions are 38 1/2-inch H X 7 3/4-inch W X 11-inch D. Overall frequency response is 19Hz-30kHz. Recommended associated amplification is 20-250 watts. The magnetically shielded ProTower has a dedicated low level LFE input, low frequency level control, auto on/off, and is available in black or white. Retail price is $549.00 each. Like the ProMonitor 100, the 200 has a beautifully sculpted, non-resonant, low diffraction PolyStone cabinet, (available in black or white) with an adjustable pivoting base and keyhole wall-mount. The cabinet is designed using Definitiveís proprietary NROC curve to minimize internal reflections and incorporates a complex series of internal braces to eliminate cabinet coloration. The result, says the copany, is a super sounding, compact, magnetically shielded bookshelf monitor which looks light years ahead of a conventional bookshelf speaker and sounds as good or better than the $1000 - $2000 a pair esoteric bookshelf speakers from overseas. Overall dimensions are 14-inch H X 7 3/4-inch W X 11-inch D (without base). Frequency response is 28Hz-30kHz. Recommended associated amplification is 20-200 watts and suggested retail is $225.00 each. - New UIW 75: The new UIW 75 is Definitiveís finest in-wall loudspeaker. Its superior performance, says the company, truly advances the state-of-the-art for in-wall loudspeakers with a combination of lifelike presence, powerful bass response, tremendous dynamic range, and remarkable three-dimensional imaging and smooth, extended frequency response. The UIW 75 combines 2 Definitive cast-basket 6 1/2-inch bass/midrange drivers with a Definitive 1-inch pure aluminum dome tweeter in a DíAppolito array similar to that used in the BP2000. Its attractive designer styling and extremely compact 16 5/8-inch X 7 1/2-inch size totally belies its high output and power handling capability (10-300 watts) and wide linear frequency response of 26Hz-30kHz. Retail price is $650.00 a pair. - New BP2002TL Bipolar Tower with Built-In 250 Watt Powered Subwoofer: Since its introduction three years ago, Definitiveís original BP2002 has achieved the highest sales of any ""powered tower"" in the marketplace. The new BP2002TL is a dramatically revamped and upgraded redesign of this highly reviewed best selling classic loudspeaker. Like the original BP2002, the new BP2002TL is a bipolar tower with a built-in powered subwoofer. It now, however, incorporates many of the advancements and new technologies developed for the new flagship BP3000TL (and new BP2000TL). Its 12-inch powered subwoofer is driven by an all new, built-in 250-watt IPS (Infinite PowerSource amplifier with a MOSFET output stage. This amplifier is said to be twice as powerful as the amplifier in the original BP2002 and in addition is said to achieve vastly improved transient response and rhythmic slam. The bipolar array also has had its output capability doubled with the addition of another cast basket 5 1/4-inch bass/midrange driver both front and rear (4 total). The front and rear arrays now offer DíAppolito topology like the BP3000TL and BP2000TL for improved imaging with, says the company, better focus and specificity combined with a bigger more enveloping soundstage. The new BP2002TL is 2 inches taller (45 7/8-inch H), 1 inch deeper (l5 13/16-inch D) and the same width (7 1/4-inch as its predecessor. Recommended associated amplification is 20-400 watts. Frequency Response is 17Hz-30kHz. The suggested price is a very affordable $1,099.. - New ProCinema 80 Sub Sat System: Definitiveís best-selling universally acclaimed ProCinema 100 system, says the company, has clearly established itself as the industryís reference sub-sat system in terms of performance, build quality, styling and value. Othe ProCinema 80 is smaller less expensive version of the Pro 100 system. The complete six piece ProCinema 80 System ($999) includes 4 ProMonitor 80s, a ProCenter 100 and a ProSub 80. Like the ProCinema 100 system, all individual speakers will be available in black or white and packaged separately for mix and match individualization of systems and the greatest flexibility. - New ProMonitor 80: The palm-sized shielded ProMonitor 80 is significantly smaller and more compact than the ProMonitor 100. Its dense, non-resonant cast PolyStone cabinet with Definitiveís NROC continuous parabolic curved shape is said to virtually eliminates internal reflections for cleaner clearer sound. It incorporates the same high power cast-basket 4 1/2-inch bass/midrange driver as the ProCenter 100 combined with Definitiveís 1-inch pure aluminum dome tweeter with silk-surround. The use of a 4 1/2-inch driver, says the company, allows the ProMonitor 80 to achieve much higher sound quality than other comparably sized satellites (which all utilize smaller, less powerful 3 1/2-inch drivers) due to its higher output capability, higher power handling, lower frequency response capability, lower crossover point and lower distortion. The ProMonitor 80 incorporates a built-in keyhole mount for wall mounting as well as built-in brass inserts on the bottom and back for an optional pivoting wall mount (not included). Definitiveís new BPVX/P is the first rear/side surround speaker with a built-in powered subwoofer. Now that Dolby Digital and DTS Digital Surround are capable of delivering full range signals to the rear channels the need for a compact on wall surround with a built-in powered subwoofer is very clear. In fact, Dolby strongly recommends that a subwoofer be used on each and every channel. Each BPVX/P contains 4 cast-basket 6 1/2-inch drivers (2 on each side) and 2 1-inch pure aluminum dome tweeters. Two of the 6 1/2-inch drivers are driven by a built-in 150 watt IPS (Infinite Power Source) amplifier and utilized as a high performance subwoofer. Bipolar technology is perfect for rear surround use for Dolby Digital and DTS Digital Surround as it combines the performance advantages of direct radiating surrounds (focus and imaging specificity) and dipolar surrounds (enveloping and enhanced spaciousness) in one ideal system. Size is 22 1/8-inch H x 11 3/8-inch W x 7 3/4-inch D. Power handling is 20-400 watts/channel. Frequency Response is 23Hz-30kHz.
