5.1 Entertainment Group Launches Two DVD-Audio Lines
5.1 Entertainment Group (Los Angeles, CA) breathed some life into the DVD-Audio format with a CES party to launch its two DVD-Audio lines - Silverline (specializing in classical and jazz) and immergent (specializing in contemporary and popular artists). Originally known as Highway One, a producer of CD-ROM, video, enhanced CDs and DVD, 5.1 has secured the rights to a number of audio works, including over 240 48-track masters of classical recordings by the London Symphony and London Philharmonic orchestras. The company plans to launch more than 30 six-channel DVD-Audio titles in March. It sampled some of its titles at the CES party, including content from Huey Lewis & The News, Nat King Cole and The Beach Boys.
