JBL Introduces New PSW-D Series Digitally Powered Subwoofers
The PSW-d Series consists of three high performance models: the PSW-D110 (10 inch driver, 150 watts), PSW-D112 (12-inch driver, 250 watts) and PSW-D115 (15-ince driver, 350 watts). Each incorporates JBLís unique Class-D digital-amplifier technology. The PSW-D Series subwoofers employ premium-frequency drivers with cones that are composed of a unique high-polymer-laminate material that combines the advantages of high stiffness and low mass, which the company says provides ultrafast, articulate, detailed heat dissipation, increased power handling and accurate response even during long periods of demanding use. The heavy-duty construction of the frame and mechanical structures and of the rigid, resonant cabinets, are said to enable each PSW-D Series subwoofer to produce clean, powerful, musically accurate bass-all the way down to 25Hz for the PSW-D115. The PSW-D Series offers maximum installation flexibility and features a unique Adaptive Bass Distribution system of setup and adjustment options. All models include a volume control and phase switch, plus a full complement of line-level and speaker-level outputs, and on models PSW-D112 and PSW-D115, left, center and right inputs to allow easy connection with any speaker, amplifier, receiver, or preamp/processor. Independently adjustable low-pass crossovers enable control of the subwoofersí output and the signals sent to the amplifier to effect a seamless transition between main speakers and subwoofer. The Video Contour Switch on models PSW-D112 and PSW-D115 is said to optimize performance when reproducing movie soundtracks. Models PSW-D112 and PSW-D115 also include a direct input, making them ideal for use with Dolby Digital and DTS Digital Surround receivers and processors. The PSW-D Series powered subwoofers are compact and finished in an understated satin black, with distinctive, acoustically transparent perforated, sculpted metal grilles. Suggested retail prices are: PSW-D110, $349.95; PSW-D112, $479.95, and PSW-D115, $999.95. All PSW-D Series subwoofers are being shipped now.
