The Cinema Audio Society (CAS) has announced their nominations for Outstanding Achievement in Sound Mixing. The Awards will be presented at the 36th Annual CAS Awards Banquet, which is taking place Saturday, March 4, 2000 at The Sheraton Universal Hotel in Universal City, California. Nominees are as follows:Feature Film: ""American Beauty,"" ""Any Given Sunday,"" ""The Matrix,"" ""The Sixth Sense"" and ""Star Wars: The Phantom Menace"".Television Movie of the Week (MOW) or Mini-Series: ""The Hunley"" (MOW), ""Joan of Arc Part 1"" (Mini-Series), ""A Lesson Before Dying"" (MOW), ""The 60's Part 2"" (Mini-Series) and ""Tuesdays With Morrie"" (MOW).Television Series: ""ER,"" ""The Storm Part 2""; ""The Sopranos,"" ""I Dream of Jeannie Cusamano""; ""Star Trek Voyager,"" ""Equinox Part 1""; ""West Wing,"" ""In Excelsis Deo""; ""The X-Files,"" ""The Unnatural"".Variety or Music Series or Specials: ""ABC News Special: The Latin Beat""; ""Annie""; ""The 41st Annual Grammy Awards""; ""Great Performances: The Gershwins 'Crazy for You'""; ""Ray Charles in Concert"".In addition to the nominations, the CAS also announced that re-recording mixer Buzz Knudson will be receiving the CAS Career Achievement Award. Knudson has been nominated for an Academy AwardÆ 11 times, and has won three of those times for ""Cabaret"" (1972), ""The Exorcist"" (1973), and ""E.T."" (1983). Knudson currently serves as consultant and vice-chairman of the Todd-AO Corporation.
