Two new six-element home theatre speaker packages have been introduced by Yamaha Electronics Corporation. Designated CLS-200 and CLS-150, the new ensembles each incorporate five full-range speakers and a subwoofer and are timbre matched. CLS-2OO Yamaha's new CLS-200 home theatre speaker ensemble includes five NS-A200X two-way speaker systems - serving as the main, center, and surround speakers - and the SW-5 subwoofer. The NS-A200X is a two-way magnetically shielded acoustic suspension speaker system utilizing a 5-1/4-inch glass-filled cloth woofer and l-inch glass-filled cloth dome tweeter. The crossover point is at 5 kHz and the speakerís frequency response is specified at 95Hz to 20KHz, +3 dB. Sensitivity is 89 dB/W/M and power handling is a nominal 50 watts and 100 watts of music power. The NS-A200X has 5-way binding post terminals for easy connection. Yamaha's magnetically shielded SW-5 subwoofer incorporates a massive 12-inch driver and 200 watt amplifier using the company's proprietary Advanced Active Servo Technology. The subwooferís frequency range is 18Hz to 170Hz and it has a continuously variable high-cut filter from 50Hz to 150Hz. The SW-5 also-provides automatic signal sensing power on/off. The amplifier will automatically activate on sensing an audio signal and will turn off when it senses no signal for a period of time. Yamaha's CLS-200 home theater speaker ensemble has a suggested retail price of $899. CLS-150 Yamaha's new CLS-150 home theatre speaker package is also a six-component group. Each NS-AP425A incorporates a 4-inch gray-polymer coated woofer and 1/2-inch Ferro-Fluid cooled dome tweeter. The speaker is magnetically shielded, so it can be placed near a TV or video monitor with no picture degradation. Frequency response of the NS-AP425A is specified at 60Hz to 22kHz, o3 dB. Sensitivity is 88 dB/W/M, and the speaker has 5-way binding post terminals for easy connection. The Yamaha SW-4 subwoofer which completes the CLS-150 ensemble uses a l0-inch woofer and built-in 100 watt Advanced Active Servo Technology amplifier.
