Vidikron Introduces New HDTV-Ready LCD Projector

Versatile Epoch D-2200 Features 2-Bulb Brightness And Full Compatibility With Current HDTV Formats

Vidikron of America, the world leader in high-performance video projectors and support components, introduced the new sleekly styled Epoch D-2200 HDTV-Ready LCD Projector at the 2000 International Consumer Electronics Show. The Epoch D-2200 produces a high-quality LCD picture, capable of handling images in 1080i and 720p (HDTV), as well as 480p (SDTV and DVD), 480i and 625i (PAL). The Epoch D-2200 displays all standard TV signals and most popular computer formats including SXGA, XGA and Macintosh, enabling users to adapt the projector to specific viewing needs and various room types. Using three transparent 1.3-inch active-matrix LCD panels, the D-2200 delivers a top-end resolution of 1024x768. The projector can display 4x3, 16x9 and anamorphic aspect ratios in either a front- or rear-projection configuration plus it offers picture-in-picture capability. Providing two bulbs instead of one, the Epoch D-2200 is considered one of the brightest LCD projectors available, and features a luminosity rating of 2200 ANSI. Either one or both bulbs can be used depending on the nature of specific installations and the amount of light required. With a maximum throw distance of 55.9 feet, the D-2200 is capable of projecting a maximum image of 300 inches (diagonally) for dynamic pictures in small or large home theaters. The D-2200ís horizontal scanning frequency ranges from 15.25 to 15.94kHz depending on the type of video connection used. For maximum flexibility and convergence, RGB, components, S-Video and composite video inputs are provided. Audio can be input via a mini jack or RCA L-R connection. A serial nine-pin connector allows computer-controlled operation with a remote or a mouse. Additional connections are also provided for an external remote or a computer mouse, specifically for control from a Macintosh. Advanced chroma decoding on the D-2200 improves color transitions, and a multi-dimensional comb filter virtually eliminates cross-color artifacts. Vidikron combines these features with a built-in video scaler that includes motion compensation for an artifact-free display resulting in razor sharp pictures. Motorized power zoom and focus functions are accessible from the D-2200ís backlit, ergonomically designed remote control. The D-2200ís retractable zoom/focus lens mechanism is used to enlarge the image and project it on the screen. A lens shift dial moves the lens up and down for fine-tuning the imageís position on the screen. Motorized power zoom and focus functions are accessible from the D-2200ís backlit, full-function remote control. Extendible legs with adjuster buttons are situated on each side of projector to ensure the projector sits horizontally, a requirement for optimum performance. An indicator illuminates or flashes as a warning when the temperature inside the projector reaches an abnormal level to prevent severe overheating that may damage the projector. The Epoch D-2200 LCD Projector will be available in February 2000, from Vidikron dealers at a suggested price of $12,995. A wide variety of installation accessories - including screens, ceiling lifts and cables - is also available from Vidikron.
