El Capitan Theatre To Boast Kodak ScreenCheck Experience Kodak ScreenCheck Experience

Disney's El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood becomes the first commercial cinema certified by the Kodak ScreenCheck Experience. The announcement was made at the 1999 ShoWest convention in Las Vegas, on March 10. ScreenCheck Experience verifies that a cinema house fulfills industry standards for projecting a bright image on a large screen in a room that is designed and maintained to provide an optimal movie-going experience. The El Capitan Theatre, located in the heart of Hollywood, dates back to that cityís heyday as the entertainment capital of the world. Gloriously restored by Disney, today the El Capitan presents to residents and tourists all-out movie-going entertainment. The El Capitan is the premiere venue for Disney ""event"" films, and often couples the feature attraction with a specially produced live stage show. ""It is an honor to have such a special venue as one of our premiere ScreenCheck houses,"" says Robert Mayson, general manager of Kodakís Cinema Operations. ""Itís a great way to kick off our campaign to help theatres present films at the highest possible quality, the way the filmmakers intended the films to be seen."" Richard Cook, chairman of the Walt Disney Motion Pictures Group, added, ""The Kodak ScreenCheck Experience assures that industry standards for film exhibition are met and we are proud that the fl Capitan Theatre is the first commercial theatre certified t6 meet their criteria. Providing moviegoers with the very best projection and sound quality has always been our top priority. Our association with Kodak and their expert team of theatre technicians guarantees that moviegoers will be getting the kind of quality theatrical experience they have a right to expect."" Recently, attendance for A Bug's Life at the El Capitan broke all previous house records, indicating that the public is hungrier than ever for top-quality entertainment and production values. ""We partner with exhibitors to bring bright, sharp, clean pictures to the screen,"" explains Donald F. Lane, ScreenCheck Experience manager. ""We make recommendations that ensure the Kodak best presentation possible. Usually, some relatively inexpensive adjustments can make a big difference. Our signage and other promotions are designed to inform moviegoers where screens have been optimized for their employment. Participating screens are re-certified at regular intervals. The ScreenCheck Experience is scheduled to roll out to more screens in the U.S. within weeks and internationally later this year.
