NHT Adds SuperSub To Performance Line

Deep Things DO Come In Small Packages

NHTís Performance Line of moderately priced, small, innovative, and high quality speakers has got a new member. Designated SuperSub, the new model can augment the lineís other speakers to create a music or home theatre speaker ensemble providing full-range, deep-bass sound in a way that fits with many home styles. Measuring only 14.3 inches (H) x 11.3 inches (W) x 16 inches (D), NHT has equipped the SuperSub with an Audio/Video switch and ingenious circuitry which assures that this relatively small subwoofer delivers superb music performance and dramatic home theatre impact. In the Audio mode, the sub has a flat response, provides tight, deep bass, and renders faithful music reproduction. In the Video mode, the subís Q is raised and a 35Hz high pass filter is activated. The subwoofer output is increased 4.5dB providing the desired increase in low bass output without disturbing the ""flat"" audio subwoofer level setting. The new SuperSub is a vented subwoofer design and incorporates a Class A/B amplifier that delivers 150 watts to its 4 ohm load. The dual down-firing drivers are 6.5-inch five-layer laminate polypropylene cones with rubber surrounds. The SuperSub provides accurate bass down to 33Hz and can go as high as 180Hz. A user variable low pass can be set from 40 to 180Hz, making the new model a good choice with a variety of speaker systems. A phase switch can conveniently reverse the phase of the speaker to maintain the same polarity of all speakers in the system and yield a coherent and full sound. In addition, the SuperSub has high and line level high pass filters at 100Hz. Other specifications include distortion of less than 0.1% at full power and signal-to-noise greater than 90dB. The SuperSub uses RCA connectors for line level input and outputs and has five-way binding posts for speaker cable connections. The SuperSub has a rich black gloss cabinet and a suggested retail price of $500.
