Panasonic Broadcast & Television Systems Company has announced the space-saving PT-37P1 37-inch 16:9 aspect ratio gas plasma monitor to bring the ""wow"" factor to the viewing experience in business presentations, entertainment centers and public areas. The PT-37P1 joins Panasonic's PT-42P1 42-inch gas plasma monitor - which set industry-wide standards for panel brightness - to expand the company's large-screen display offerings. The PT-37P1 offers a 550:1 contrast ratio and an exceptionally high on-screen brightness level of 470 cd/m2 to produce rich, vibrant colors for comfortable viewing of detailed video, text and computer-generated images for audiences large and small. This high-performance plasma monitor features an ultra-thin design measuring only 3.5-inches deep, and at a scant 61 pounds, it mounts easily to any surface or can be supported by a floor stand. Slightly smaller than prevalent 42-inch offerings, the PT-37P1 fits nicely into space-sensitive environments. The 37-inch 16:9 monitor provides 852 x 480 expanded VGA resolution to deliver stunning display quality with up to 16.77 million colors and 256 gray-scale definitions. The unit's 160+ degrees viewing angle (horizontally and vertically) provides everyone a clear view. The PT-37P1's space-saving size, wide viewing angle, and high visibility makes it a dynamic display for advertising; trade shows; museums; retail stores; kiosks; airports; post-production suites; studio control rooms; class, board, training and conference rooms; executive offices; as well as serving as the entertainment centerpiece for lobbies, home theatres and reception offices. Panasonic's plasma products excel with Adaptive Brightness Intensifier technology that increases the number of discharge cycle times for better brightness regulation, yielding a dramatic improvement in peak display brightness - up to twice as bright as some conventional plasma displays. The monitor's Dual Scanning Method allows simultaneous scanning of both the top and bottom halves of the screen in one single pass, raising the brightness level and sharpness of the display. Its Asymmetrical Cell Structure improves the light-emitting balance of the three primary colors (green, red and blue), resulting in color reproduction of astounding verisimilitude. The PT-37P1's Multi-Split Subfield Drive system renders negligible any moving picture noise that is common to conventional plasma displays, with resulting images that are sharper and clearer. Additionally, a Digital Color Gradation circuit expands the color reproduction range and eliminates color bleeding. As a progressive scanning, widescreen aspect ratio monitor, the PT-37P1 is fully-compatible with 480i, 480p, 720p and 1080i signal formats and accepts most international video signals, including NTSC, PAL, SECAM and PAL-60. A variety of inputs include video/S-video, RGB (PC) and Y,Pb,Pr component video, and can be computer-controlled via a built-in RS-232C interface. A language selectable on-screen menu display runs in English, German, Italian, French and Spanish. Overall dimensions are 36.6-inches wide x 22.6-inches high x 3.5-inches deep. The PT-37P1 is available in February 2000 at a suggested list price of $9,995. Optional accessories for the PT-37P1 include detachable stereo speakers; wall-hanging and ceiling-hanging brackets, a pedestal and wall bracket.
