The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) has announced that the OscarÆ 2000 telecast, slated for 5pm PST (Pacific Standard Time) March 26, will make use of many of the latest innovations in technology. For the first time in the history of the Academy AwardsÆ, high definition masters will be used to cut the Best Picture and other clips that will be used to highlight some of the categories during the telecast. Producers Richard D. and Lili Fini Zanuck recently sent letters to distribution companies requesting that they provide AMPAS with a high definition master tape of their nominated films, enabling viewers at home to have a higher quality of viewing.Source: CreativePlanet.com
