OpenTV (NASDAQ: OPTV) (Amsterdam Stock Exhange: OPTV), the leading worldwide provider of software that enables digital interactive television, announced that Quiero Television SA (formerly known as Onda Digital), Spain's first digital terrestrial television network, has chosen OpenTV as a software provider for interactive television services. This announcement significantly expands OpenTV's reach into the Spanish digital television market, which includes an existing relationship with the Spanish digital satellite television network operator, Via Digital. Quiero Television plans to launch OpenTV-enabled interactive services to its digital terrestrial television audience, beginning in Spring 2000. Quiero TV may launch similar OpenTV services on its digital terrestrial network, which may also include an integrated e-commerce application, allowing Spanish television viewers to purchase products and merchandise via their televisions. ""Together with Quiero Television, we are offering a new kind of television experience to Spanish viewers,"" said Jan Steenkamp, OpenTV President and Chief Executive Officer. ""With this new, digital terrestrial TV design win, OpenTV will be able to introduce Spanish television viewers to the most advanced interactive television services available today.
