Mixer Gets Career Achievement Award By Joshua Ratcliffe, Daily Variety
Three-time winner of the Academy AwardÆ for Best Sound Robert ""Buzz"" Knudson will receive the Cinema Audio Societyís 1999 Career Achievement Award. Sound mix veteran Knudson received OscarsÆ for his work on ""Cabaret"" (1972), ""The Exorcist"" (1973) and ""E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial"" (1982). He also received seven other Academy Award nominations. He will receive the Cinema Audio Society honor at the organizationís 36th annual awards banquet March 4, 2000 at the Sheraton Universal Hotel in Universal City, California. Joining the Todd-AO Corp. in 1960, Knudson began sound mixing for feature films in 1965, rising to become President of Todd-AO Studios in 1982. He retired from mixing in 1990 and as President in 1991 and now serves as a consultant and Vice Chairman of the corporation. In April 1998, Knudson returned to supervise the digital remix of Warner Bros. ""The Exorcist"" for the filmís 25th anniversary
