THIEL Audio Announces New PowerPlaneô In-Wall High Performance Loudspeaker

US loudspeaker manufacturer, THIEL Audio, announces their newest Coherent Source loudspeaker, the PowerPlaneô, an in-wall loudspeaker designed to provide much higher levels of sonic performance than other in-wall speakers available today. The PowerPlane's suggested retail price is $1200 each. The Most Realistic Sound From The Smallest Area ""When space is a factor, the new PowerPlane delivers the most realistic sound possible from the smallest area,"" says THIEL President Kathy Gornik. ""It is a true high performance in-wall speaker for listeners who wish to have great sound in every room of their home."" The PowerPlane uses the same high performance drivers, crossover design, and high quality components that are used for THIEL's award-winning line of floor-standing and shelf speakers. The two-way PowerPlane's coaxial/coplanar 6.5-inch woofer and 1-inch dome tweeter use THIEL's innovative short coil/long gap motor system for extremely low distortion and both use aluminum diaphragms for outstanding tonal response. The tweeter is the same unit as used in THIEL's flagship model, the $13,500 CS7.2. Unlike many conventional, backless in-wall speakers, the PowerPlane is self-enclosed with a ruggedly braced cabinet to prevent unwanted vibration from transferring to the room walls, obscuring detail and coloring the sound. As with all THIEL loudspeakers, the PowerPoint utilizes a synthesized first-order crossover system to eliminate phase distortion. Outstanding Sonics Regardless Of Listener Position Or Speaker Placement The coaxial/coplanar design of the PowerPlane drivers provides proper time performance regardless of listener position or speaker mounting location for greater clarity and spatial performance. ""The PowerPlane's monopole design also creates a more realistic sound field for the listener by accurately reproducing the spatial information on the soundtrack, rather than the diffuse, inaccurate reproduction of bipole designs,"" says Designer Jim Thiel. Used In Every Room Of The Home The PowerPlane can be used as front, center, or rear-channel speaker in home video and music systems. They can also be used alone or in pairs throughout the home in bedrooms, kitchens, and offices for outstanding sound everywhere. Its subtle, architectural design and paintable surface, integrates well with a variety of decors. Specifications include a frequency response of ±3dB from 75Hz to 20kHz, a sensitivity of 89dB@2.8V-1m, phase response within ±10 degrees of minimum, and a 4 ohm nominal impedance. Horizontally oriented, the cabinet's dimensions are 19 inches wide, 4 inches deep, and 11 inches high
