Christie Named First OEM To Manufacture Digital Cinema Projectors Using Texas Instruments' DLP Cinemaô Projection Technology

Christie Systems, Inc. announced that it has been selected as the first OEM to manufacture digital cinema projectors using Texas Instrumentsí DLP Cinemaô technology. The agreement will allow Christie to develop the Christie DigiProô series of digital projectors using DLP Cinemaô projection technology. According to Glenn H. Sherman, President and CEO of the Cypress, California-based company, ""Our subsidiary, Christie, Inc. is the world leader in conventional film projectors, and it is our intent to be the world leader in digital cinema projectors. The acquisition of Electrohome Projection Systems, now renamed Christie Digital Systems, Inc. was a major first step in this strategy, and our agreement with Texas Instruments is the equally important next step."" In highly acclaimed presentations of ""Toy Story 2"" and ""Bicentennial Man"" over the past several months in sixteen locations around the world, a combination of a Texas Instruments DLP Cinema prototype projector, a Christie Reference Console and a QuBit server were used to demonstrate the enormous strides made towards the all-digital cinema of the future.
