Samsung Promotes Thomas Rhee And Kevin Procter To Vice Presidents

Promotions In Digital And Home Appliance Come As Part Of Growth And Restructuring

Samsung Electronics America announced the promotion of Thomas Rhee to Vice President of Digital Convergence Marketing and Kevin Procter to Vice President of Sales & Marketing for the Home Appliances Group. The moves reflect the rapid growth and development of Samsung product lines in the digital and home appliance categories. Rhee, most recently Director of Digital Marketing, is now directly responsible for initiatives concerning the DVD, MP3 player, digital still camera and digital products to be named. As Director of Marketing for Digital Products, Rhee was a major player in the development of the ""Samsung Digitall, Everyoneís Invited"" marketing campaign, largely responsible for reshaping Samsungís entire brand identity. The Digitall campaign brought with it an entire new logo and put a fresh face on how the US perceived this Korean consumer electronics giant. Rheeís promotion is part of a reorganization effort that divides the Digital Media Group into two areas: Visual Media Marketing and Digital Convergence Marketing. Additionally, James Sanduski has been promoted to Director of Marketing for Visual Media Products, giving him jurisdiction over all television categories including: analog displays, TV-VCR combos, projection television, high definition television and Samsungís cutting edge FLCD line. Formerly Director of Marketing for the Audio/Video Products of Consumer Electronics, Sanduski directed all marketing activities for Samsungís A/V line including projection and direct-view televisions, camcorders, VCRs and TV-VCR combos. Procter, Director of National Account Sales has been named Vice President of Sales & Marketing for the Home Appliances Group. Procter joined Samsung in 1988 as General Manager of New Product Development. In that role he was responsible for color TV, TV/VCR combos, audio and facsimile products. Most recently he has been Director of Sales for the National Account Sales team where he worked with such retailers as Best Buy and Tweeter. ""The timing for this move is critical for the Samsung Digital Group,"" says Myoung Woo Lee, Senior Vice President and General Manager for Samsung Electronics America. ""We are concentrating much of our efforts and resources to leave our mark in the digital arena, and Rhee, Sanduski and Procterís experience will serve us well in these roles.""
