Proton Premieres New PD-42VM 42-inch Plasma Widescreen Monitor

Proton Corporation has introduced the new ultra-slim 42-inch 16:9 Plasma PD-42VM flat-panel high-resolution widescreen monitor. The Proton PD-42VM features include a 160 degree viewing angle, a 16:9 (1.78:1) aspect ratio (4:3 material is automatically shown in the center of the screen or it can be expanded to fill the width of the entire screen), and multi-scan (24:8 kHz) capability (NTSC, PAL, SECAM, HDTV and most PCs). The PD-42VM is one of the slimmest 42-inch plasma television systems on the market measuring less than four inches. The remote-controlled display has multiple mounting options including wall, ceiling, stand and custom installation applications. The Proton PD-42VM Plasma Widescreen Monitor also features: DTV 480P; Dual Video Scanning Frequency 31.5 kHz and 15.7 kHz; 800 by 600 SVGAí 640 by 480 VGA; Native 853 by 480 pixels; 300:1 Contrast Ratio; Ambient Light Filter; 24 Bit RGB color at 265 Levels; and is Magnetic Field Immune. The Proton PD-42VM is equipped with one audio/video S-Video input, one component video input and one RGB input. The PD-42VM cabinet measures 41 1/2 inches wide by 25 1/2 inches high by four inches deep and weighs 100 pounds. No suggested retail price was announced at press time.
