Warner Dominates DVD Releases

Warner Home Video continues to dominate the DVD market, with more than a 30 percent share, according to DVD sales tracking by VideoScan, which tracks DVD sales representing an estimated 75 percent of the market. VideoScan reports that Buena Vista Home Video has quickly moved to second place with 11.83 percent marketshare, ahead of Columbia TriStar Home Video, a DVD pioneer with Warner, with a 9.91 percent share. Universal Studios Home Video is in fourth place with a reported 8.75 percent marketshare, followed by MGM Home Entertainment at 7.48 percent and Paramount Home Video at 7.63 percent. Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment is in eighth place with 3.12 percent, trailing Image Entertainment, whose DVD sales are reported to account for 3.21 percent of marketshare.
