Edwards Irvine Spectrum Theatres To Digitally Project ""Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace""

Sources have reported that Lucasfilm is preparing a theatre in the Edwards Irvine Spectrum Theatres complex in Irvine, California to be one of four venues to digitally project the groundbreaking George Lucas film Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace. The much anticipated prequel to the blockbuster 1977 Star Wars is the first film to be released for theatrical exhibition in a digital format. George Lucas, its creator, shot with film as well as in high-definition digital and remastered for its select run. The 20th Century Fox distributed movie will be released on June 18 in four digitally ñequipped theatres, one each in New York, Dallas, San Francisco and Irvine (Los Angeles Metropolitan Area). Originally, there were to be two venues each in New York and Los Angeles only.
